Naheed Effendi FCA, CTA BA Hons
Tax Director
Naheed qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser with KPMG. During her 11 years at the firm she has specialized in company taxation and has represented corporate and private clients under revenue enquiry and investigation from HMRC. Naheed obtained a first class degree in Accounting and Law from the University of Manchester.
Her no nonsense, can do approach is a breath of fresh air and helps her deliver exceptional service, as well as obtaining excellent results for clients when dealing with HMRC. Originally from Dewsbury, Naheed now lives in Leeds with husband Raza. As well as having many interesting conversations about accountancy and tax, they try (with varying degrees of success) to look after their twin daughters.
Raza Effendi FCA, MBA
Director
Raza qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in Leeds in 2001. Raza has wide experience of auditing, accounting for businesses and taxation. He is an excellent all rounder, able to think strategically on behalf of clients, bringing together a fusion of business advice and tax consultancy.
His determination, intellectual capacity and energy combine to provide clients with excellent care and attention.
Samantha Hutton ACCA
Audit Director
Samantha qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant with a large independent practice in Leeds and joined the firm in 2011. She is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Samantha is the firm’s audit specialist and keeps up to date with the latest accounting and auditing developments, pro-actively offering clients advice on fulfilling their statutory reporting requirements. She has a key role within the firm, works with many clients and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that their accounts are delivered on time and to a high standard. Samantha likes to support Wakefield Trinity Rugby League team and spend time with her young family and friends. She is also a keen runner.
Joanne Powell ACA, CTA
Tax Director
Joanne is responsible for the provision of taxation services, ensuring that any available tax opportunities and potential tax risks are identified and brought to your attention in a timely manner.
Joanne is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years’ experience, qualifying also as a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax with KPMG, where she spent 10 years working with companies and their shareholders in all aspects of taxation. Joanne’s specialisms include:
Corporation Tax, VAT and stamp taxes as part of a wider range of business advice;
Shareholder planning and transaction tax advice including acquisitions, disposals, group reorganisations and simplifications;
Management and employee incentivisation planning including equity reward planning.
Emma Indergaard Dip FA
Independent Financial Adviser
Emma has worked in financial services for the last 15 years, with posts in major blue chip companies before joining the firm. She provides holistic financial planning, working with both individual clients and businesses to achieve their pension, investment or protection objectives. Using the latest cash flow analysis system helps clients understand how their assets and liabilities will be affected over time, especially in retirement.
Emma is personable yet professional and prides herself on the thoroughness of all aspects of her work. She works alongside Peter Drinnan, who is a principal in Schofield Money (formerly called KJA Financial Services Ltd), a company directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Ian Fletcher FCA
Chartered Accountant
Ian qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Thornton Baker & Co (now Grant Thornton) in 1974. He subsequently became a partner in Fletcher Greenwood & Co. before joining KJA in September 2013. Ian has wide experience of advising clients not only from the local area but also international organizations. Ian acts for a number of charity clients and is a former member of General Synod. Ian principally now advises on estate planning and inheritance tax matters.
Ian and his wife Hazel have two Children; one is a Chartered Accountant and the other, clearly considering accountancy too exciting, is an actuary. Ian also religiously supports Bradford City, having had a season ticket for many years.
Peter Jones FCA
Chartered Accountant
Peter trained with Robson Rhodes in Leeds, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1982. In the mid-80s he transferred to their Manchester office. He subsequently joined Chadwick LLP in 1994 and became a partner the following year, primarily undertaking audits and corporate finance work for both listed and private companies. In 2008 growing weary of the regular trans-Pennine commute, he acquired the accounting practice of Cromack & Co in Morley. In this practice he was responsible for looking after the accounting and tax affairs of local owner managed businesses. Following the merger with KJA in 2018, Peter became an associate with KJA. In addition, he was a non-executive director for the British Textile Technology Group from 2009 to 2014. Peter lives in Holmfirth with his wife Audrey and has been known to frequent the Picture drome on a regular basis for its renowned live band attractions.
Jodie Hargreaves
Accounts Senior
Jodie joined KJA Group in November 2022 from the construction industry and has become a valued member of the accounts team, advising, and supporting many clients with their bookkeeping, management accounts, VAT and year end accounts preparation. She is currently studying her Accountancy Taxation Professional qualification (ACCA) and looks forward to a successful career within accountancy.
A twin herself, outside of work, Jodie takes good care of her dog, Enzo and twin tortoises, Ronnie & Reggie. She enjoys watching all types of sport, football, rugby, and horseracing amongst others, which fits nicely with her other favourite pastime, socialising.
Gabriela Novacescu
Accounts
Gabriella manages a portfolio of the firms business clients looking after their yearend accounts, VAT returns and management accounts in varying sectors. She prides herself in being well prepared and understanding her clients businesses, whilst delivering excellent service in a timely manner.
In the rare time she is relaxing, Gabriella is often reading a good book or starting a new hobby, of which she has too many to mention.
Adam Tomlinson
Accounts
Adam has been with KJA Kilner Johnson Ltd for ten years and has a wealth of experience in accounts and sound client knowledge.
Covering many aspects of accounts, with meticulous precision, including management accounts, VAT and year end accounts. Adam’s approach is that, to do a job at all is to complete it to the best of his ability from beginning to end.
An active and keen sportsman Adam likes to keep fit and demonstrates a definite competitive edge. He also enjoys a small wager with his fellow colleagues and is often the taker of the money.
Chris Jackson
Accounts
Chris is currently qualified as an AAT level 4 accountant, working in the accountancy profession since 2015 and at KJA for 5 years. He prides himself on being precise and hardworking whilst learning more and more about the job he loves and progressing towards becoming ACCA qualified.
In his spare time, Chris loves going out with his friends for a variety of activities including table tennis and golf.
Joseph Milligan
Accounts
Joseph’s career in accountancy started following his A-levels in 2018, where he began his AAT qualification studying. He became a member of the KJA team in August 2022, where he has since developed his knowledge and understanding of preparing accounts, as well as taking on a role in auditing. He now has a portfolio of solicitors that he works closely with. Joseph is in the process of becoming level 4 AAT qualified.
Joseph loves to watch and play football, getting behind his local team Bradford City. He has also recently taken interest in running.
Ceara Stephenson
Accounts
Ceara’s career in accountancy started straight after school as an apprentice in 2016, where she began her training to become a qualified level 3 AAT professional. She joined the KJA team in June 2021 where she developed her knowledge and understanding of preparing accounts. She now has a portfolio of charities and working men’s clubs. Ceara is also looking at progressing her career in the near future by studying level 4 AAT.
Ceara is an avid rugby league fan often going to watch Batley Bulldogs & Dewsbury Moor.
Emily Morris
Accounts Assistant
Emily joined the KJA team in November 2021, and has since developed her career in accountancy as an apprentice. She has completed her Level 2 AAT qualification and is currently working towards her Level 3 qualification. She assists with various aspects of accounting, including bookkeeping, year-end accounts preparation and VAT returns.
Emily is an avid reader and can more often than not be found with her head in a good book. She also enjoys listening to music.
Shannon Shadlow
Payroll
Shannon Joined us March 2017 as an apprentice working towards her AAT qualification but after working with payroll, she found her true calling so is now focusing on developing her payroll skills. She is a core member to our payroll division of KJA and a much-loved member of our family here.
She is a very sociable person and never misses a chance to spend time with her family or to take a trip away with her friends.
Tracy Metcalf
Office Manager/Administration
Tracy has worked in administration for nearly 30 years. She started working for Fletcher Greenwood & Co in 1994 before it merged with KJA in September 2013. She is well versed on all aspects of office administration and ensures that the office is run smoothly and efficiently alongside Beth and Emma.
She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping and watching true crime shows.
Bethany Shillito
Administration
Beth Started out working for Cromack & Co in September 2017 before it merged with KJA Group in October 2018. She works in the admin department alongside Tracy and Emma. She is also the face of KJA as she works on reception.
She lives in Wakefield and loves spending time with friends and family. She enjoys going to festivals and going out for food.
